What gave you the push to branch out and start kitchen + kraft?

I have been making my whole life. kitchen + kraft started when I finally put all of my interests together and went for it. Along with creating, I have a super passion for heathy eating, cooking and sustainable living. Sometimes you just feel that the time is right and that is totally what happened here. Things were aligning and I couldn’t ignore it any longer! That, combined with a super supportive Mom, gave me the confidence to take the leap and quit my full-time job to pursue kitchen + kraft.

What is something most people don't know about kitchen + kraft?

My favorite part of the whole process is un-doing the binding and seeing the beautiful pattern that was created in the dyeing process. Sometimes I wish I didn’t have to cut up the fabric, ha! Maybe I should make wall tapestries...

What Boston-area maker(s) do you admire?

I totally admire Erica and CJ of HausWitch. They are a total blast and have been so great to me. I also love Christina Kosinski’s beautiful pottery and Vessel Candle Co.’s amazing soy candles.

What is your dream studio set up?

 I would have a tiny house as a studio behind my farmhouse in Vermont (also a dream). That way I would have a nice little space inside for sewing, cutting and storing materials and the ability to have a dyeing and washing station set up outside. All of this would be right next to my pick-your-own blueberry patch. Unlimited snacks and blueberry dyed cotton, the dream.

Any advice for someone looking to start their own business?

Go for it! Really, you just have to take the scary-exciting leap. As long as you’re positive, open and truly passionate, good things will come your way.
